Preview to September

I would expect this blast of Canadian air in August to get my "melancholy" going. After all, the signs that signal the end of summer seem to be the most blatant reminders of all the living that has passed me by. This is when I notice how fast my girls are growing up and how little time is left for them to be kids. Its when I notice some leaves starting change and how the hay in farmer bob’s field is turning brown without ever being mowed this year. He is getting older. I just noticed the shadow boxes that are cast through my living room window starting to work their way back towards the center of my living room wall; to the middle in time for the equinox.

This is a brief preview of the seasonal restlessness that lies ahead. It blew in last night on a cold front that is more typical of september. No melancholy here, just a little excited about what is coming up on this rumble strip I’ve been riding all my life. Who knows, maybe all the shaking and racket will subside for a while. Who knows?
