On friday night I drove to the top of Moon Hill to watch a storm roll in. I brought a pocket notebook that my sister gave me for christmas just in case something popped in to my head. I had some thoughts, new ones and old ones that have been kicking around between ears all week.
While driving to the top of Moon Hill - Assorted thought #1
Every day is the anniversary of something but, I need not behold every anniversary. I can be ridiculous. Its OK to let a few anniversaries slip by without acknowledgement; especially if the day that I am in is going to be an anniversary of something very good that I might celebrate next year.
Watching the storm roll in from the hilltop - Assorted thought #2
When you are standing in spot where you can see far enough to see the blue sky on the far side of an approaching storm;
you are really standing behind a rainbow that you cant see.
There is a storm rolling right towards you
The lightning is getting closer
the wind gusts are pushing and bending the sheets of rain
that are swallowing up the landscape out in front
its scary yet,
There is someone standing on the other side of the storm
looking towards the place where you are and wishing themselves there
because you are standing at the base of the rainbow
that you can't see and
there is a pot of gold right next to you.
Assorted archive thought #3 - Another approaching storm, another year
I can sit and watch a bolt of lighting hit the ground
and know that it is close and the thunder will be deafening.
I can guess how many seconds it will take for the roar to reach me
and yet, when the thunder comes,
I still jump and it scares me to death.
Its no different than nearly everything else in life
Sunday
Today I had an amazing day with my girls. I took them swimming in the creek, fishing in the lake and singing in the car. We ate good food and had silly fun. Maybe being sick had me run down enough to keep neurosis at bay and be at complete ease. Maybe they are just great kids
