When new things help the old things find their place...
Its not about minimizing the past, its about coming to peace with it.
I went on a field trip with the girl scouts today in a bus that floats. I was amazed at how little I know about the captial city. Later, we played hacky sac on the side of the house while two gobblers tried to woo a single hen in Farmer Bob's barnyard.
After dinner I bribed my girls with a promise of hot fudge so they would help me out with a couple of chores around the house. They reluctantly agreed. As I was leaving, I noticed that the sky was clearing in the west just in time for the sun to light up my hillside. I ran in back in to grab the digital camera and my oldest ( aka Jelly Jar) caught me.
"Daddy, your not going to get us hot fudge, you are going to take pictures." Snagged.
There is one shot I have wanted to get for an post and it looked as if it might be the perfect night. I sped through town while I watched the sun sink and took a short detour en route to the hot fudge store.
When I got to the spot, it was perfect. The sun was setting into the end of the cemetery drive. The sky was starting catch on fire and the headstones were casting long shadows. It was beautiful. I turned the camera on and the batteries were dead. Not meant to be or, meant to be?
I grabbed a pack of batteries at the store, remembered the hot fudge and headed home past the lake. When I saw this, I had to stop.
The music at the club last night was amazing. It was the only 'real deal" blues guy we have around here and it was his 52nd Birthday!! The night and morning were amazing enough to keep me jazzin on the little things all day. These little things were very abundent today.
I have always been a lucky man but sometimes I can be little remiss in realizing it. Not today, thank you.
