Its must be Pike Shooting season again!!

It was a long drive to Burlington and a longer one home. It was worth it but, I wish I had brought the camera. Dreary days can be pretty striking. When I drove the cut from the Northway over to Crown Point, there were still a few stray piles of snow and some ice left on Paradox and Eagle Lakes.

Sometimes I wish my memory wasn’t so good.
Vermont is a strange but very beautiful place. I remember reading something about their spring "Pike Shooting" season in an outdoor magazine. Apparently, the folks who prefer fishing with their rifles became very upset when someone proposed a ban on the "sport."

Right after I crossed the bridge into Vermont, I saw a couple of guys in a jon boat cruising a swamp. They looked like possible Pike Shooters to me.

Welcome to Vermont; the only state in the union where you can tour Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, shop for organic dairy products and shoot fish with a gun. I wonder if do they promote "shoot and release" Pike Shooting. Thats some good conservation right there.
"Yup, we shot three nice ones today but we let em all go."

Now there is a sportsman!!
