I don't often go here

We locked onto our T.V.s this week to ogle the tragedy that left all those kids dead in Virginia as if it were crack while we made time to flip over to Sanjaya sing bad country music on American Idol. We watched somber people stand on a football field with their candles illuminating coca-cola cups (or was it pepsi) and derived some sort of comfort from it? We listened to coffee room pundits point out all the ways such a horrible thing could have been thwarted…C’mon.

So, after we watch a broadcast of a deranged mind spew psychotic nonsense into a cam corder over and over, what do we say? Life is short? What a horrible, senseless loss of life this was. How could such a terrible thing happen in America?

Did anybody notice that another 150 people were blown to bits while they were shopping in Baghdad this week or think of the 2000 kids that have died so far in this failed war for freedom?

So I ask, which of the above could have been prevented and what the hell is wrong with us?
